Technical Assistance

Goodbye Simplicity - Hello Complexity!

Generally, nowadays every project is characterized by its complexity. Simplicity is gone as beside technical challenges legal requirements in various forms impose additional pressure on the project initiator! With its tight process framework the UNFCCC adds another piece of complexity to projects.

The general solution to transfer a project idea into reality is to work together with well educated, continuously trained and hands-on experienced engineers and experts in various fields of expertise. Only these specialists can guarantee a sober and fluent transformation of your project idea into reality!

Paperwork Saves Money and Time

Many projects fail due to lack of documentation. This statement is not only true for many UNFCCC projects but also for other projects. A lot of project initiators do not see the advantage of well documented project accompaniment in the first run but often ask for it when things go wrong.

Making mistakes on paper is good,

making mistakes in real life consumes time and money!

Professional PLANNING saves the day!

As a conclusion a well prepared technical documentation with a sufficient level of detail saves a lot of time and costs right from the very beginning of the project.

Technical Assistance Offer

Technical planning of a project is a very delicate task,

only successful when conducted by qualifiedcontinuously trained and experienced experts!

Due to the fact that we receive project documentations which sometimes are not really qualified to reflect the whole project in its technical scope appropriately we decided together with our German technology partner to offer technical assistance to those project owners who like to benefit from German experts with university education and continuous training in their specific field of experience.

The result-oriented technical service offered is not only available for UNFCCC projects but for any kind of technical project. If you go for a UNFCCC project and you are also thinking about using this technical assistance offer of course the results of the assistance will be aligned to the UNFCCC regulations automatically!

Project Analysis, Evaluation and Risk Analysis

analysis 225Whoever plans a project has a need of appraisals, expert opinions or studies, in order to appropriately and soundness consider all aspects.

Whoever owns and/or operates an installation i.e. for the supply of renewable energy this can be optimized. Sometimes the plants do not yield the expected or components are damaged due to inadequate maintenance schemes.

Warranty does not mean freedom of risks, and specific clauses can drastically change the guarantee conditions, if e.g. not was adhered to appropriate maintenance schedules.

From practice itself many projects were developed suboptimal or come into serious difficulties, as warranty or liability problems arise.

Project analysis, project examinations with comprehensive risk analyses, project management and project support during all phases objectively serves our customers with professional competence, in order to find a perfect solution.

With these tasks international and national standards are considered and supplemented with economic expertise.

Specifically, the offer comprises:

  • Analyses on the appropriateness and duration of guarantee conditions
  • Analyses to the technical availability
  • Evaluation of long-term prognoses and portfolio analyses
  • Consultation in all technical questions during the preparation of purchase and service contracts

Environmental Compatibility Studies

frogfree

Sustainability can only be assured and achieved if environmental factors and effects are identified and quantified already at planning stage! An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) serves as basis for an objective evaluation of the project’s influence on environment and nature.

Under consideration of the appropriate and recognized standards our technology partner offers in each situation individual environmental scientific assessments and investigations.

Whereby all compartments (soil, water, air), material flow and transformations, as well as relevant organisms (humans, animal, plants), objects (cultural assets and material goods) and other issues as climate and landscape are taken into consideration.

Project Sustainability

can be fostered by an Environmental Impact Assessment

at an early planning stage!

Possible effects are determined and evaluated. The objectives gained serve in the decision making process regarding any project’s validity.

Energy-political Consultation and Conception of Plans of Action

WorldEnergy 225In the first place decision makers often need to set an initial signal for industry, the market and investors, in order to push and enable any development and application of new non-conventional technologies.

Renewable energy technologies have been proven in many places, both, in places with fastidious grid standards as in Europe, and in countries with more unstable supply and transmission networks and with other grid codes and requirements.

Governments in the whole world intensify their activities in defining targets for the development of renewable energies, in order to lower CO2 emission and to achieve a CO2 balance according to international obligations. These targets must be linked to existing resource potentials as well as to the technical and human capacities and potentials of individual nations.

In addition, regulations for feed-in tariffs and conditions regarding grid access for renewable energy producing IPPs must be defined, in order to appropriately consider the level playing field of these new technologies.

Our German technology partner German ProfEC offers adequate services and supports the formulation of political strategies, the elaboration of incentive programs and master plans just as the realization, monitoring and evaluation of any programs and plans.

The services cover fields as

  • Acquisition of official development assistance and consultation regarding financing structures for demonstration projects
  • Consultation regarding regulatory, institutional or political framework conditions for renewable energy systems
  • Assessments and evaluation of market situations for (independent) decentralized electricity generation
  • Conceptual design of measures for monitoring and evaluation
  • Determination of energy and power requirements
  • Analysis and studies on national renewable energy resources and integration in GIS applications
  • Expert opinions and appraisals on market incentive programs

Analysis of Electrical Systems

analysis 225Electricity generation facilities need to comply with standards of utilities and/or grid operators, if the electricity shall be fed into the grid network. But also in case of an isolated system: a minimum of standardization is needed in order to ensure an optimal operation of electrical devices that are to be fed from the production plant.

A detailed and comprehensive analysis of the grid condition, the load flow as well as the voltage and frequency behaviour needs to consider the electrical and dynamic characteristics of the electricity generating facility.

In the end the facility can behave neutrally, weaken or strengthen the point of common coupling to the grid. Dependent on (grid-) codes changes at the plant might be necessary, in order to modify this according to the requirements.

With respect to these events the following services are offered:

  • Determination and evaluation of grid feeding conditions
  • Capacity Credit analyses
  • Dynamic and static load flow analyses
  • Frequency change analyses
  • Voltage change analyses
  • Grid losses in dependency of the technical context and specific local conditions
  • Evaluation of power quality
  • Evaluation of common point of coupling

Tender Assistance

The knowledge of modern facilities for generation of renewable energy is not always directly available. But often social factors, competition or favouritism are present, which obstruct the application of new technologies, or which make the project development in-transparent. Therefore, often and especially concerning development projects external experts are required for system design and dimension as well as for recommendation, procurement or evaluation of hardware. In particular pilot projects whose realization often demands triggering from the outside, are realized within the framework of a tender.

Our German technology partner German ProfEc offers comprehensive service for both, the production and the evaluation of tender documents and based on its technical and economic expert knowledge, combined with the practical experience within the range of international tenders, an objective comparison can be offered. This leads to achieve the best possible price-performance ratio for the respective demands.

Electrical Systems and Devices

TechDoc 225Each plant for electricity generation needs to comply with standards of the utility or grid operator, if the electricity shall be fed into the grid network.

With respect to this the following services are offered:

  • Determination and evaluation of grid feeding conditions
  • Determination and evaluation of grid feeding conditions
  • Capacity Credit analyses
  • Dynamic and static load flow analyses
  • Frequency change analyses
  • Voltage change analyses
  • Grid losses in dependency of the technical context and specific local conditions
  • Evaluation of power quality
  • Evaluation of common point of coupling

Energy-Contracting

WorldEnergy 225During the last decade in many countries legislations and regulative measures were adopted, which strengthen the development of renewable energy sources. The renewable energy law, as defined in Germany, is a real export hit. Nonetheless it competes, in terms of acceptance, with the so-called quota model, which is applied in some countries. However, many countries and nations still need to develop and adapt any similar laws and regulations.

As long as appropriate legal regulations are not present in these countries, planners and operators of (renewable) energy facilities depend on with utilities and grid operators negotiated power purchase agreements (PPA), individual settlements or energy contracting.

Albeit electricity or heat, our German technology partner offers support with PPA negotiations and energy contracting between independent energy producer (IPP) and the particular buyer (e.g. electricity services, industrial clients, etc.). With her specific know-how the company elaborates solutions and concepts for contract. Tariff evaluations and tariff determinations are thereby just as important components, as capacity credit analyses or the evaluation of possible sanctioning regulations in case of inability to supply energy.

Promotion of the Transfer of Technology

At present many environmental technologies and renewable energy technologies are out of stock and presuppose long delivery times. Our knowledge to the international markets, to manufacturers and technology providers facilitate the access to appropriate technologies.

Beside the actual hardware it also must be ensured that sufficiently elaborated operating and maintenance concepts are present and that appropriate personnel is available. Trained technicians, maintenance teams, a technical operator and spare part management are basic requirements for perfect and successful operation.

Just the lack of these basic requirements caused many development projects in the 80's to fail, since after installation no appropriate maintenance concepts were accomplished. It lacked in trained personnel and the costs for contracting international maintenance and service technicians were just too high considering the remoteness and size of these projects.

German ProfEC supports the right choice for maintenance concepts, the training of local technicians as well as the implementation of tailor-made maintenance and operating concepts. This we ensure this by close co-operation with pertinent technology manufacturers and maintenance specialists.

Financing Support

humanitarian financingFinancing always plays a primary role with projects. First the intention, commitment or necessity for project implementation exists. Nevertheless, often projects fail due to the absence of the financial means.

Our technology partner German ProfEc acts as agent between potential financiers, institutional and private investors and provides a tailor-made financing concept, in order to - based on antecedent studies - realize the projects.

Furthermore German ProfEc undertakes acquisition for development measures and programs, which provide low-interest loans and subsidies.

The reduction of greenhouse gas is the goal of many international and national organizations and incentives. Instruments such as CDM, JI and VER are suitable means to internalize efforts on environmental protection with economical soundness and to make profit based on environmental protection.

In the context of the CDM, JI and VER procedures German ProfEc supports

  • the design of the system and the technology
  • the consideration of socio-economic and eco-technical components
  • the financial cost/benefit analysis
  • the pre-analyses and documentations required for the project design document (PDD) and certification.

German ProfEc's contact to certification bodies and high-ranking consultants enable them to optimally accompany the proceeding steps of application and registration.

Amongst others there are special financing possibilities for photovoltaic facilities and wind farms! Please, contact us for further details.
